NEW BEGINNINGS

Welcome to Ruffcut Woods! My name is Crystal and I am a maker. What started as a hobby, turned into a love for the craft, and has blossomed into a career of creating custom designs for customers. My husband, Mark, and I work well together making useful wooden goods using premium wood.

 

I was born and raised in Texas and for the past 14 years I have dedicated my professional career to Animal Welfare working in municipal shelters. I clearly love animals, thus the obvious integration into my brand.

As a maker, I use woodworking as a way to express my creativity but dabble in a lot of directions (including this website). I love the history of wood, the imperfections, uniqueness, figure, and being able to transform something that's usable and functional.

 

My favorite part about making is that each piece takes a lot of on the fly problem solving, and  I do enjoy a challenge. I love all things handmade which makes it especially unique.
